Application |
View of eco-centric,
systematic & long term |
Leader should have an
eco-centric view which is necessarily a long term one. Short term profit
motive orientation affect the long lasting of people with the organization (Blanchard,
K., Zigarmi, P., & Zigarmi, D. 2013) |
Working with
cross-boundaries and different roles |
Different roles are
essentials for sustainable leaders such as promotional role, motivating role,
risk management role, people role, monitoring role etc. (Brown, R., &
Clarke, J. 2007) |
Spending more time to
work across the boundaries |
To meet with the
challenges, leader should be a T-shaped professional who is having broad
knowledge over the boundaries (Blanchard, K., Zigarmi, P., & Zigarmi, D.
2013). Leadership capacity ensure this matter while having broad range of
communication skills |
Exercising influence
without having authority |
This is a critical
matter for the leaders as this gives the capability to influence a wide group
of individuals. Authentic and transformational leadership styles (George, B. 2003)
are related with this trait which is absent with traditional leaders (Bryman,
A., Stephens, M., & á Campo, C. 1996). |
Comfort ability in
working with complexities |
Dynamic business
environment results in many complexities and sustainable leaders should be
experts in meeting with those complexities. Collaboration, character,
commitment, competence and communication capabilities with the leader make
the efforts more sustainable (George, B. 2003) |
Prioritizing
self-leadership |
Sustainable leader is
with better understanding on himself especially personal traits, strengths
etc. (Goleman, D. 2004) |
Thought
leaders are with high expertise powers and trusted advisors are with clear
relationships with the subordinates. Adaptive leaders create the space for all
stakeholders in meeting with the issues. Team leaders are having a significant
role in the sustainability as they are managing the projects with the team
spirit. Boundary spanning leaders are more experienced guys in relationships
who connect the people for the organizations (Gordon, J., & Berry, J. 2006).
